Classes began again mid-January with a bit of snow and a lot of enthusiasm. Returning to the structure of classes offers support for the body, as we are again reminded that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. While we may not forget this piece while on break, hearing it each week allows the body to settle into more ease. Having a spiritual teacher, and attending weekly classes is one of the most potent ways to shift one’s reality. Hearing the validating messages each week is like going to a spa—the body and analyzer mind settle, relax and return to the place of trusting the journey.
All classes at Lightwork can be done "at a distance." This usually means doing classes and sessions over the phone. Lightwork has many distance students, a great choice for people who want to take classes but live outside of Vancouver or travel alot. Click here to learn more.
Sacred Space is being held on Sunday, February 5th, from 10-11:30 am. All are welcome to come and share something sacred to them.
I see year two of the Lightwork Apprenticeship on my horizon, and I reflect on the meaning of happiness. It used to be such a huge problem if I wasn’t feeling happy in my life. I considered any unhappiness to be a situation that needed to be fixed immediately, usually externally... with a purchase. New shoes, new trip, new sailing lessons etc. I hoped that one of these bought and purchased realities would bring me closer to the happiness I was so desperate for. I’m not unfamiliar with the phrase, “Money can’t buy you happiness” but it didn’t stop me from trying to shop my blues away! I’m realizing now that happiness is not even my goal. The Apprenticeship is helping me focus my intention of living a simple and sustainable life. My goal is to enjoy the sanctity of my daily life from an internal place of peace and contentment.

Lightwork Productions - the creative wing of Lightwork, has been working on a number of books lately, and we have some exciting news! The final edit of the black & white version of "The Journey is the Goal" is now complete! We hope to have it printed in 2012. This book has a number of articles, as well as beautiful photos and poems, all with the intention to offer support on the spiritual journey. We just have one small step left in the process before it can be purchased... printing! That shouldn't take too long, soon enough the book will be available at a lower cost then the full colour first printing.

The Ecovillage has entered a new stage of it's life this winter. This new stage comes with a visible leap forward in the development of the project. Creative direction and an excavator transformed many parts of the land this January. This change was made possible with the help of Ecovillage board members and an excavation team.
Truly mesmerizing to witness, the excavation team moved through the projects with ease and flow at the hands of an experienced operator and Scott Robinson. We watched and listened in awe as the powerful machine snapped trees in half and delicately picked up giant ferns; gently placing them where they can re-grow.
The team worked together using magnificent mechanical power to create new spaces. New to the Ecovillage landscape: a road to the Sanctuary site, a large terraced garden expansion, a beautiful u-shaped pond with accompanying amphibian nursery pond, the Highland Flats Road, and a number of new building sites.

As a spiritual being currently residing in a human body, you create your own reality. One way you create reality is a Lightwork principle: Whatever you do, you do to yourself. Meaning anything you put out into the world, you receive back. This is the karmic loop, the karmic wheel. What comes back may not look exactly the same, it may not manifest in this lifetime, but you will see it again. This is perfect karmic accounting and you will be responsible for your creation at some point.
All creations in your life that hold you in a state of suffering are simply pieces you need to heal. If you’re creating harm out in the world, it will come back to you in some way. It will return and become part of your life and this needs to be healed. You have two ways to deal with your returning karma: live it out or heal it. Living it out can be very challenging, and this is often what moves you to start doing your spiritual work in the first place. Healing is the journey.
A more efficient way to proceed, is to consciously not create charged karma, the type that need to be healed later. Another example of this is the more love you put out into the world, the more you receive back–it constantly loops around. Whatever you put out into the world and the entire universe comes back to you: Love out, love back. Healing out, healing back. Consciousness out, consciousness back. Scarcity out, scarcity back. Abundance out, abundance back. Pain out, pain back. Anger out, anger back. Abuse out, abuse back. This process happens constantly in one way or another.
One basic spiritual principle is if you want something in your life, you put it out there. You may want love, but if you’re unwilling to put out any love, it doesn’t come back.
You can check in by asking yourself, what do I want? Whatever it is you want, you simply put it out there. I personally want spiritual freedom, so I assist other people in finding their spiritual freedom. I want to constantly evolve, so I assist other people to evolve.
No one ever gets away with anything. There’s a myth that if you create harm, and you don’t get caught, you’ve gotten away with it. Of course this is not true because everything circles back around. There is perfect karmic accounting.
Look at something you are currently doing that is supportive. This is something blessing the world. Let it be something you really enjoy about your reality. Allow it to be a thing you are happy with, something you appreciate about yourself. It’s a part you don’t want to change, because it’s supportive.
Allow yourself to notice it. Notice what you’re doing. Notice what you’re putting out in the world that is a healing force. Bring awareness to the beneficial thing you’re putting out, and also notice what’s being generated in return. And really say "Yes!" to that thing. Perhaps it’s been subconscious and you don’t generally notice what it is. But notice it now. Remember the aspects of your life that are working and you want to keep. They are all being generated by you. They arise from what you’re doing and have done.
We always want to have the full picture. You can notice all of your creations and validate yourself regardless if you label them positive or negative. An important key with spiritual healing is not judging outcomes. We want to change our reality, not because it’s a bad reality, but because we choose to change. We choose to heal. The spiritual practice is about letting go of judgments. We choose to have the awareness there are no right/wrong things, no good realities/bad realities; it’s simply, how do you want your reality to be, and create it. This is outside of judgment.
So what is the thing you blame someone else for? Can you pull back ownership? Feel the invalidation within when you invalidate someone. Bring awareness to what you are broadcasting. Let it be truly your choice how you are in the world, not an unconscious piece of programming.
Whenever you take time to look at your creations—your reality, be sure to stay neutral. Simply acknowledge what is. It may be a core issue you’re working with, so the lighter you hold it, the more consciousness you can bring to it. You generate every aspect of your life. You can shift every aspect. All change comes from within. You, as a spiritual warrior are powerful because you are choosing to create consciously more and more of the time. You reading this piece is proof of that. The choice of consciousness is far more powerful than you may know. You have the ability to live with that much awareness and light.
