In every situation in life, no matter how challenging or painful, there is always a gift of learning for you. The task of the Spiritual Warrior is to find the gift and then to truly receive it. It is often painful to look directly at an event in your life, especially something that has a lot of charge around it, but it is important to try and find the inherent learning. As you walk your spiritual path, this is a powerful way to continue to move forward.
One of the keys to being able to find the gift within, the particular piece, the gift for you, is to be neutral, to be out of judgment. You have to be able to look at these things without viewing them as right or wrong or good or bad. You have to transcend the idea that something should or should not have taken place, and know that as Spirit, you created the situation very specifically, in order to get a piece of information.
If you are able to see something from a place of neutrality you will acknowledge there is a specific reason why it occurred. There will be crucial learning in it for you. The question is whether you can receive the gift. Whatever takes place will redirect your life in a way that is entirely appropriate, if you can receive what is happening to you and not go into resistance to it. Getting the learning requires that you let go of previous plans, concepts, ideas and visions of the way life is supposed to be, and go with what is being presented to you. If you can see the gift and receive it, you will get the piece of information and learn from it, and your life will be blessed by this event.
One of the biggest learnings for me in this lifetime came out of growing up dyslexic. From a very early age, perceiving reality differently became a painful way to live. I was not valid. In grade one and two I was invalidated to an extreme degree, programming my body to believe that it was not valid. I was just not right. I just could not do it correctly. I was wrong. My body was damaged from that experience.
Being unable to take in written information quickly and efficiently, like others did, created an incredible amount of fear. I remember trembling and sweating with the idea of having to read something to other people, and coming up with incredibly creative and powerful ways of redirecting the flow of energy in order to avoid situations. There is core cultural programming that says, as a person with dyslexia, "you are not as valid as others and that you are outside of society" in that Western civilization is based largely on the written word. Reading things like street signs and menus, looking up or dialing phone numbers, these all can be challenges for some dyslexics. One has to be very focused and aware of what one is doing when one has dyslexia.
All of this could so easily be perceived as a negative thing, as a hardship that was unfair. Thankfully, I grew up in a situation where that concept was not accepted, and after that initial experience at an early age, I was put into situations where I could flourish, where other ways of perceiving reality were validated.
When I came to the understanding later in life that everything is a gift, I spent some time looking at this piece for myself. If I had not been dyslexic, there is a very good chance I would have been taken into more body-senior realities. I have many talents; I could have just flown with those talents and not focused on what I needed to do spiritually. For me, I could have taken on many different careers that would not have been my true path. Without this gift, doing spiritual work might have come later, if at all, and I would not have developed it to the degree that I have in the amount of time that I have.
One of the interesting things about being dyslexic is that instead of visualizing or thinking in linear terms or in two-dimensional terms, one visualizes and thinks in three dimensional pictures. I work more from a place of thinking in pictures than words. The fact I did not feel really a part of the culture from a very early age allowed me to start looking and thinking in different ways, and asking the big questions. Why am I here? What are the reasons for being?
Finding different ways of perceiving reality very early in my life supported me in being aware of energy on many levels. This was an incredible gift for me. When I started getting my spiritual training and started to read energy, it was easy for me to learn. I just did it. I had been reading energy my whole life. I had to be aware on another level in order to get by, in order to function.
Thinking in pictures has many benefits. When I picked up a camera and started taking photographs, there was no learning curve. It was natural for me.
The circumstances of my life became a wonderful asset for me. Even to this day, being dyslexic is not a picnic in a lot of ways. It is challenging still, but now I really use the abilities to my advantage. I do not view it as a problem or a disability. I have found creative ways to do what I want to do on this earth, and to view the different way that my brain perceives reality as beneficial rather than limiting.
Everybody has a story like this for him or herself. Each one of us has encountered adversity or something that can be perceived as a problem or a limitation. As you start to be more aware and start to touch into this new wisdom, you can see how much of a gift your personal situation is. It may not be easy for you; it could take your life in a totally different direction. So when looking at your own life and noticing those landmark events that you perceived as failures, jobs you didn't get, the relationships that fell apart, the projects that didn't get off the ground, whatever these things are, find the gift, the piece of spiritual information within them and allow the gift to support your reality.
Everything that happens, every moment of your life, every exchange of information, every chat you have on a street corner, holds a gift.
Once you set out to look at circumstances in this way, you will start to become more aware and touch into how perfectly life is synchronized. We are always being given the next piece of information. Your life is always being created in a perfect way in order for you to make a shift, to learn and grow.
There are no accidents. There are no random events. Everything is there in order for you to get the next piece of information. My whole dyslexic journey is a major piece, a life-long learning, but there are also many smaller pieces that happen all the time, daily, moment to moment. Can you hear, can you see, can you get the information from your pieces? As spiritual beings, we manifest bodies in order to grow, to learn, to evolve our consciousness, to heal the past and create the future we want with integrity. It is the task of the Spiritual Warrior to have the intent to utilize every moment in every day in order to grow, move and change, to evolve spiritually, finding the gift within.
