As Spirit, you can make instant changes in your life - your body, however, takes longer to adjust. A body needs time to let go of the programming it has been operating on. This transition time is your "growth period". It is very important to acknowledge what is going on for the body during this time. Consider what your body is asking for. What does it need emotionally or physically? There is a delicate balance between recognizing what your body needs and being aware of the changes you have made as Spirit. It is important to let the body go through what it needs to, and know that it is just reacting to the changes you have made as Spirit. The body is simply trying to catch up. Your body will always let you know when it is in a growth period. Perhaps you get a cold, or experience aches and pains, or your body is just plain cranky. You can give your body what it needs - exercise, relaxation, proper diet, some fun, whatever.
Internally, you can be aware of and release any messages in your space that say “no” to the changes you are making. Let go of anything that says, "change is difficult" or "it is hard work" or "it must be painful". Release the idea that, "real change takes a long time". You need to take responsibility for what issues come up for your body, but do not become the issue. You are Spirit first. Remember that all healing is self-healing and you can heal yourself.
It is essential to acknowledge what is going on for the body during this time. You have to take responsibility for comforting your body in a physical way, as well as working through whatever the programming is that has you "lit up" as you begin to make a spiritual change. You are not your growth period. It is simply what happens when you take another step forward in healing yourself. The growth period can be full of effort or very easy depending on how you are with it, how much resistance you have toward it. We all go through growth periods. The Spiritual Warrior’s intent it to have multiple on-going growth periods and to be in a state of ease and flow with all of them. They can be a relatively minor experience, or represent a major event in your life. The big growth periods may tax your energy system, but they usually carry within them a huge new level of awareness. I have experienced periods in my life where everything was changing so quickly and I was in such a state of massive transformation I thought I was going to die at any moment, literall. While in the same breath, I was hitting levels of awareness that the week before I could not even perceive. The two were happening simultaneously. This is the phenomenon that occurs in all growth periods to varying degree.
Whatever is triggering the growth period allows you to move toward a new awareness, and although there is usually some excitement around it, your body will likely be in resistance. On an energy level, the new place where you as Spirit reside may be awesome, but on a physical level, the process of having your body get to that place may be exhausting. This is the process of an extensive growth period. Knowing about growth periods can make the journey a lot easier. There is often a whole list of things your body needs to let go in order to get through a growth period. So much of the growth period effort and discomfort can be eased just by naming it. The Spiritual Warrior is interested in change. If you want to keep your life exactly the same, then do not undertake your spiritual work. Growth periods are an integral part of growth and change, and you must be comfortable with this. The objective is to have more growth periods, not less. The warrior chooses to be in a state where he/she is growing so easily there is a constant blooming and growth without resistance. Your body must trust you to be spiritually-senior and to provide the support needed for change. If you are in the habit of leaving your body every time you find yourself in a growth period, then you are letting your body down. If you are present in your body and reassure it that everything is fine, and that you are going to be there while you make this change, your body will do anything. It needs to trust you.
It is always essential to remember Source. If you take a look at Source energy, you may notice it is all about change. When we are in a constant state of change, we are in the state of Source. Stagnation is not Source's way. When we are in that state of change, we are actually in our divine selves. That other place that is supposedly "security", that other place of non-change, represents a separation from Source. When you have your connection with Source, change starts happening. It is all about flow, it is all about movement. Nature is a great reminder of the need to change. When a volcano erupts, lava will flow and wipe out everything in its path but then a forest will grow again. Even what looks like death is not actually death at all. It is simply movement on to another level. It is vibrant. It is about a constant state of change. Your spiritual nature is the same.
