Apprentice Corner
Reflections of Keith Grennan
My journey with the apprenticeship program is one of many challenges and many blessings. One of the most challenging aspects is keeping my energy levels up between a full-time job and a full-time apprenticeship. It is boot camp for the soul. In the beginning there was a lot of resistance to the new schedule, but within a couple months it has become the new norm and the challenge has become tactical: how to run my energy in such a way that I can sustain myself through the activities required in my day.
So I've stopped doing the ten or twelve-hour work days. And I've had to let go of a dependency on having lots of unconscious downtime. Instead I am training my body to run at a clear, high vibration all day, and avoiding wasting energy on stress, anxiety and unconsciousness.
I'm also working on having clear boundaries, especially around work. It's so easy to let your work take over your life. Setting really strong boundaries and sticking to them has been challenging, but it's been paying off with a more balanced lifestyle, less stress, and more capacity to be in the moment.
I recently made a chart of what my weekly schedule looks like. After blocking off time for work, Lightwork apprenticeship, and time spent at the Ecovillage, all that remains thin slivers in the morning and evenings. This would have made me crazy a few years ago, and is only possible with the years of spiritual training I have undertaken. What previously felt like a burden is now a blessing. When I ask myself, "How do I want to spend my time?", the clear answer is "With people I love, in an environment that supports my spiritual growth and healing." With this I know I'm on the right track.

Lightwork Productions
Lightwork Productions, the creative wing of Lightwork, has been engaged in a variety of artistic endeavors this month. The Lightwork Band continues to rehearse and compose new material in the Hawk House, at the Ecovillage, which is very inspiring. The Lightwork Band’s new video of their song, What Could Be is complete. We are saving its debut for the fall. We love it! The Band will be performing their new material at the Music and Arts Festival, Sunday August 5. FindMeditation.com is still under construction. We are excited about its launch onto the World Wide Web this fall.

The Lightwork Band's New Song!
Your Delight - Enjoy it again!
The Lightwork Ecovillage has been the site of much activity. The summer schedule provides the opportunity for more time to be spent on beautiful Gambier Island. There is a lot to do on this sacred land, stripping logs, building structures, communing with the humming birds and harvesting fresh herbs. The Annual Lightwork Summer Retreat is happening at the Ecovillage this summer, having this spiritual retreat on our sacred land is a beautiful fit. To prepare for the retreat we are learning advanced construction, plumbing, heating systems, forestry management, garden slug control and much, much more! The learning curve is huge but it is very rich as we all develop new skills and interests. One of the intentions of the Ecovillage is to support a whole balanced life. It sure is happening.

Timeless
Sacred fire from the past
Fears continually transformed
Unlimited vehicles, same message
So simple that it can easily be missed
This creation, so ornate and complex
that the core information is forgotten altogether
A smile on one's face as the body’s life force slips away
The sweet scent of female reminds that the path is paramount
A life dedicated to spirit
A life dedicated to distraction
Walk together down a nameless street,
as Heaven and Earth play their timeless game
The Heartbeat of Manifestation
- An article by Scott Robinson
Listen to your heart beat. How many heartbeats do you get until this manifestation is complete, this cycle is complete? The cycle of one life. The cycle of this Earth is also made up of heartbeats. Civilizations are heartbeats. Everything is always in constant motion. Nothing is ever static. Permanence is simply a limiting idea. Everything is going through cycles of life and death, beginning and end. As a lifetime ends, it is the end of a heartbeat. When a lifetime begins, it is the beginning of a heartbeat; thump, thump, constantly moving through realities, heartbeats within heartbeats.
A mouse and an elephant have about the same number of heartbeats in their lifetimes. The mouse's very rapid, the elephant's very slow. There are cycles within cycles. Within the heartbeat is the heartbeat. The heartbeats of a lifetime create another cycle. Within a single heartbeat is a cycle.
The Universe is expanding and contracting back unto itself and that is a heartbeat as well. Everything in manifest creation is repeatedly created and destroyed. Thump, thump, thump, thump. This Earth has gone through several heartbeats before, several cycles before. It has completely collapsed, been destroyed and then recreated. The Universe is created and then destroyed.
Source has created multiple levels of vibrations, multiple levels of heartbeats and rhythms. The mouse, the elephant, the Earth, and the Universe - their hearts beat different rhythms; different speeds and cycles.
When one begins existing more from a place of Spirit, one sees these heartbeats and rhythms are just the way the Universe flows. As Spirit, we exist outside of that rhythm. We experience the rhythm, but we are not part of the rhythm. We do not exist as the rhythm, but we experience the rhythm through manifestation, through bodies, through just being in the manifest Universe.
It is very easy to get caught up in believing that the manifest reality is all there is. If you believe this, then watching things being destroyed is very difficult. There is sadness in watching cycles end.
We are much better at celebrating birth or creation than we are at celebrating destruction or death. We need to become neutral with the beginning and the end of cycles, with birth and death. We need to celebrate the end of a cycle just as we rejoice in its beginning.
On an individual level, we must be able to let parts of our reality crumble away. The heartbeat ends with the understanding and faith that something new is going to be created. Even if you cannot see where the path is going, and you are afraid, the cycles will continue because the Universe was created to flow. After destruction is creation. After creation is destruction. So if we can let go of the pictures of how we want life to be, and instead be ready to accept the next piece of the journey, without judgment, then we can live in a state of harmony and peace. We will no longer be limited by the analyzer and the tiny part of ourselves that needs to grasp and hold onto manifest reality.
