It feels great to be back with a full slate of classes, sessions, projects all flowing. There is great appreciation and love for this practice and community.
This term at Lightwork we are focusing on taking the spiritual law of ease to the next level. Seeing how much ease and flow we can create as we continue with our varied projects. Knowing that there is no limit to how much ease one can have in their life. Be it an individual or an organization. This moment is whole. The goal is having it completely, with ease and flow.
Healing Space continues every Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:15 pm. Feel free to come and get this powerful support, and enjoy time with the Lightwork community! Everyone welcome! Looking forward to seeing you there.
My work recently sent me to an internet conference on Cortes Island. As I had lived there for seven years I was pleased at the chance to go back to my old stompin’ grounds. I left one and a half years ago seemingly at the top of my game. I had one of the best jobs available on Cortes Island, I lived in a charming ocean front cottage, and I had a wide circle of friends. I left to take the Lightwork Apprenticeship program and it was a leap of faith that what I was stepping towards would be as rich as what I was leaving behind. I knew in my heart it would be and that has proven to be true in spades.
On this return visit the remaining perfect pictures of my life there faded away. There was no nostalgia, just a clear affinity for the people and the land. Though I was attending the conference for work I couldn’t help but bring Lightwork with me as it informs everything I do. I led a 1 hour Lightwork meditation class during the event that was well attended. I found it exciting to present a few meditation tools to the lovely left brained folk and help them see how being centered and grounded can make them better leaders, clearer thinkers, and stronger speakers. It was well received and I left excited about the possibility of developing a half day curriculum on energy management and meditation to take to non-profit and social change organizations. If all the change-makers had a few Lightwork energy tools the world would be a different place!
Lightwork Productions- the creative wing of Lightwork- is working on projects for people who are new to meditation. A new book and new website are in production, and they will support people who are curious to explore what Lightwork meditation is like.
The Lightwork Band is back to having regular practices after the summer break. The band is happily working on some new chants. These chants are based on current Lightwork Band songs, and explore the sacred through words and tone.

There was a lot going on at the ecovillage this summer. Scott, Krista and Keith spent most of August up there. Keith still had to work as a programmer so he climbed to the top of the Ridge everyday to his al fresco office. I kid you not! He pitched a tent and a tarp over the internet remitter deck. So protected from the elements he would sit in his lawn chair and write code. He reports that he was able to work much more efficiently up there as the energy set was so sweet! It was hard to get him to leave at the end of the summer….
In the last weekend of August we had a half day cob workshop for the Camp Fircom folks. Camp Fircom is a United Church camp located near the Fircom dock on Hope Point. It has been in existence for 50+ years. Fourteen ‘Fircomites’ came up the hill and learned the basics of cobbing. Krista masterfully coordinated the large group, schooling them in the art and joy of cob. We really enjoyed meeting our neighbours, sharing our vision, and honing our cob workshop facilitation skills.
The post and beam roof to the cob building took a great leap forward. A few trees were carefully harvested, stripped and put into place. We’ve cobbed the front windshield of a minivan into the east wall. It will let a lot of light in and is much sturdier than a regular window pane. With the help of the folks from Camp Fircom the walls are a few inches higher too!

There are two types of competition. The first is competition based on having a reference point and wanting to transcend that reference point. This form of competition is inwardly focused and is about personal growth. For example, an Olympic athlete feeling successful when s/he transcends an old limitation of him/herself and has a new personal best. This is competing for advancement without competing with the other athletes.
The other form of competition is what I am referring to when I say "competition" in general. This is based on an outward focus and usually creates resistance and charged energy between individuals or groups of individuals and is the form of competition that is unhealthy.
There is no such thing as an "original thought". All the information that is and ever will be exists as part of Source. Pretending that you or I can have an original thought is just ego, which creates competition. It is simply an ego game that one can choose to play or not. Many aspects of Western culture work from a lie largely based on the concept of competition. The message is you have to compete or you will lose out. This is, of course, not true. The reality is there is more than enough for all. Competition is created by invalidation and wounds that limit energy awareness. If you pull the invalidation and limits off, the competition issue can begin to be healed.
