Summer, picnics and community go well together! Join us for the annual summer picnic at the “Anchor” at the far end of Spanish Banks Beach June 25, 6-9 pm. It’s a time to connect and enjoy the gift of spiritual community, in a playful supportive environment.
A 4-week Summer Meditation Intensive is running June 7 to June 28, here at the Lightwork Centre. Students learn the tools of centering, grounding and running their energy, facilitating spiritual freedom with joy and amusement.
Lightwork classes are on break beginning Thursday July 1 and resume again after labour day on Tuesday September 7. The summer break gives us an opportunity to practice the tools we’ve learned, putting them into action if challenges arise.
On Tuesdays throughout the summer, weekly potlucks and Healing Space will continue. A time to gather as community, doing what we love best. The only exception will be July 27th while we are on Lightwork's Summer Retreat.

Apprentice Corner
Reflections of Julia Thiessen
Time is a funny thing.
At times it flows endlessly, at other times it zooms past. The
Apprenticeship gives me ample opportunity to play with time. What does
it mean to sit in meditation for hours? To measure a meditation in terms
of time sometimes feels odd, because the very nature of tuning into
Spirit is in a sense outside of time. But, also it is important to honor
the reality that our bodies exists in time. Creating new patterns of
what I do with my time, namely: meditate, has had a profound impact on
my day to day reality. One thing I know for sure about time; the moment
is where it's at!
Lightwork Productions is the creative wing of Lightwork. One thing we are creating on an ongoing basis is articles. The articles can be found in the Lightwork book "The Journey is the Goal" and online in the articles section, as well as a featured one in every newsletter. The articles are the ongoing literature of the Lightwork practice. These pieces of writing help to establish light on the planet in a manifest way, and they can help reassure the body by having the experience of holding a book and seeing spiritual information in print. It is an easy way to touch into the practice. Click here to check out the articles.

As healthy soil is the corner stone to a productive garden, we did a soil test in the Ecovillage garden to determine the nutrient levels. We purchased a soil test kit from a garden store and played mad scientist for a day! The idea is to test the soil for major nutrients and trace minerals, as well as pH (the acidity or alkalinity level of the soil), before choosing fertilizers. We took a soil sample from each garden bed and mixed it together in a jar then filled it with rain water and let it sit for 24 hours to let it settle. The test results are that Potassium (K) is sufficient, Phosphorus (P) is adequate, and Nitrogen (N) is depleted. So the next step will be to use organic fertilizers like alfalfa meal to raise the nitrogen over time. We tested the pH in several different beds and it always came back about 6.5 which means slightly acid and is optimal. Great news! So planting has begun! All we need to do is keep the slugs and birds at bay we'll have some delicious home grown food in no time!

There are two types of competition. The first is competition based on having a reference point and wanting to transcend that reference point. This form of competition is inwardly focused and is about personal growth. For example, an Olympic athlete feeling successful when s/he transcends an old limitation of him/herself and has a new personal best. This is competing for advancement without competing with the other athletes.
The other form of competition is what I am referring to when I say "competition" in general. This is based on an outward focus and usually creates resistance and charged energy between individuals or groups of individuals and is the form of competition that is unhealthy.
There is no such thing as an "original thought". All the information that is and ever will be exists as part of Source. Pretending that you or I can have an original thought is just ego, which creates competition. It is simply an ego game that one can choose to play or not. Many aspects of Western culture work from a lie largely based on the concept of competition. The message is you have to compete or you will lose out. This is, of course, not true. The reality is there is more than enough for all. Competition is created by invalidation and wounds that limit energy awareness. If you pull the invalidation and limits off, the competition issue can begin to be healed.
